We can remove exactly how much fat you need from exactly where you need it removed, almost like a paintbrush, visually sculpting the human body. There is no other procedure that removes inches the way Dr. Gurley can with liposuction. Once fat cells are taken out, they cannot come back! Liposuction is the best way to permanently remove this fat and feel more like yourself. Diet and exercise are important tools, but even dramatic weight loss may not affect certain areas. The results are quick, safe, painless, and permanent. Liposuction can be performed on the tummy, waist, hips, back, thighs, arms, breast, pubic area, knees, calves, chin neck, or face.

Alternatives to liposuction include coolsculpting or lipodissolve. Coolsculpting is a freezing device that may remove fat, but it is imprecise, costly, has very mild results (many patients are not satisfied), and some patients experience a rebound swelling of treated areas. With this system, the fat is NOT removed. Instead, the fat is destroyed and left where it is with the hope that the body will dispell the discharge.
Most patients may drive and return to work in one to two days and resume full activities in less than two weeks. A compression garment is recommended for four to six weeks to control swelling and speed recovery. The majority of swelling is gone in three weeks, and the body’s natural healing process continues for several months.
This patient was holding on to fat in her midsection. No diet or exercise allowed her to lose weight in this area. We were able to reduce this patient’s circumference by 7 INCHES! When fat is taken out between the skin and the muscle, the skin retracts back inward and does not hang or get very lose. This patient is a good example of good skin retraction after liposuction.
No matter what style pants she tried to wear, this patient always had to go up a couple sizes in the waist in order for her thighs to fit. After liposuction, her thighs are more normal and she is now able to wear any style of pant she wants. Although a tummy tuck tightens the skin on the belly, it doesn’t reduce the thickness of the tissues above the belly button. It is my job as a plastic surgeon to assess your tissues, asses your desires and goals, and then explain your options to you.
Want to smooth away fat from the tummy and hips all in one procedure? Liposuction is so powerful you only need one treatment. One and done!
Hip fat is a nuisance for women and men. Liposuction will target this precise area to improve the body’s shape and to get rid of this specific problem area. Experience and equipment are paramount in order to precisely guide and measure fat removal. No other technique can smoothly and aggressively remove fat from exactly where you want it removed.
Through tiny little openings in the skin, a small tube (cannula) is inserted into the fat and it is suctioned out. Because the fat cells live in small clusters separated by their tissue, Dr. Gurley will often dissolve this tissue before sucking out the fat to help keep the area smooth. The goal of liposuction is to remove fat in areas where there is too much and leave it in areas where it is needed.
Our genetics are very powerful. They decide the shape and length of our bones, the color or our eyes and the number of fat cells we harbor in certain anatomical areas. Diet and exercise can shrink fat cells cut they cannot remove fat cells. Typically, when you lose weight your fat cells get smaller and typically when you gain weight the fat cells basically get bigger. So, you keep your proportions regardless of your weight. Removing fat with liposuction alters your genetic predisposition to having “problem” areas and permanently makes the treated area proportionately smaller. This young lady is not overweight. But, ever since she was a young girl, she had two large swellings on her hips. So, without the need for exercise weight loss, liposuction effectively changed her shape.
When fat is taken from between the skin and the muscle, the skin retracts back inward and doesn’t hang or get very lose. Before lipo, the skin is stretched over the fatty area, but it will usually recoil nicely. This patient is an excellent candidate for liposuction because she has just a few stretch marks and her skin has retained good elasticity. You’ll see some shadows and some uneven areas. This is a side effect of size reducing lipo where the main goal is to lose inches and to be noticeably smaller in clothes. If the goal of liposuction is to be able to wear a bikini with minimal imperfections, lipo must be performed differently with other goals in mind.
This patient just wants to remove as much bulk as possible and does not care about having tight skin afterward. Her problem areas were reduced by traditional liposuction. Her tissues were treated with a solution that allows the equipment (ultrasound) to work well and to help minimize bruising. Ultrasound was used to break up the fibers and power-assisted (vibrating) liposuction was used to get the final result.
This patient was disappointed with her armpit fat. Dr. Gurley used as a specialized version of liposuction where fat is gently removed which gave the area a smoother appearance while also eliminating the unwanted fat pockets.
If you have diet and exercise-resistant fat pockets, or if you are concerned about your body proportions and have good skin quality, you may be an ideal candidate for liposuction. Additionally, if you have tried coolsculpting or lipodissolve and are not satisfied, then liposuction may be the right choice for you.
The cost for liposuction surgery usually falls within this range, however you will receive an exact cost when you meet with Dr. Gurley.

Dr. Gurley is highly trained and board-certified to perform liposuction. There are many types of fat-reducing processes out there, but there is only gold standard. Getting the fat out, seeing it come out, and measuring it- that is real liposuction and that is the gold standard. Dr. Gurley performs different modifications of liposuction on different parts of the body depending on what she wants to achieve. Ultrasound frequency-assisted liposuction dissolves the connections between fat compartments (cellulite) and essentially liquifies the fat and connective tissue allowing Dr. Gurley to smoothly remove fullness from precisely the areas where you need it.“In my hands, this is the only system that can sculpt the body effectively,” says Dr. Gurley. “It’s powerful and effective.” Make sure you are asking your Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon for “real liposuction.”
