Face and Neck Lifts
A facelift or rhytidectomy may be performed using a variety of different techniques. Tissues are largely repositioned through small incisions hidden in areas such as the hairline. Additionally, any “excess” is trimmed away as tissues are repositioned to restore a more sculpted look.
A neck lift or lower rhytidectomy specifically addresses the chin, neck, and jawline area. It involves redistributing fat and tissue from the jowls and neck. Muscle tightening may also be appropriate.
What to Expect
Dr. Gurley evaluates your face and neck and discusses any concerns during a consultation. Some patients may not be good candidates for nonsurgical therapies such as laser treatments, dermal fillers, or fat grafting alone. In these cases, there may be some limitations. Surgical interventions are generally associated with more dramatic improvements and may be appropriate for more severe laxity. Patients should be healthy and have loose or hanging skin around the chin, mid-face or cheeks, jowls, and neck.
Incisions may also be placed in natural creases if you are an appropriate candidate for a face or neck lift. This helps to minimize the appearance of scarring. Drains are placed for 24 to 48 hours following the repositioning or removal of tissues. Recovering from a face/neck lift has never been easier or more predictable! Downtime is minimized by introducing new, vegan, and antimicrobial-based topical therapies. Stitches are typically removed in around five to seven days. Our patients usually return to their active lifestyles in around three weeks.
