Deflated and saggy breasts after pregnancy and nursing can leave some patients with significantly different post-pregnancy breasts. A combined technique of lifting the breasts and placing an implant can restore a youthful appearance. This operation can be very successful when performed by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has completed this procedure frequently. If your surgeon is not showing you many examples of patients and their results, you might end up with suboptimal results that require another operation to fix.
Although minor asymmetry is common, major asymmetries are more rare and have the potential to cause embarrassment, sadness, and problems in everyday life. “If I had it my way, no girl would ever worry about her breasts,” says Dr. Gurley. Luckily, surgery can often lessen the asymmetries and, at times, almost completely erase them. This surgery can also often restore confidence. “I like to tell my patients that there is little in this world we can change, but breasts are one thing that we can luckily fix!”
Neither breast is quite normal in this case. Here, the smaller, right breast is underdeveloped and is somewhat tubular. The left breast is lower, growing vertically downward and the areola is dilated which indicates a slight tubular characteristic. In these situations, we often operate on both breasts in order to optimize the chances for symmetry as well as to create the most normal-looking breasts.
