Who is a good candidate?

The entire implant and its contents are removed and the surrounding interal tissue is also removed if desired or if necessary. The natural breast tissue, nipple and areola, and skin are then brought together in such a way as to make up for the loss of the implant and re-establish the breast in a more beautiful shape and a more appropriate position. This often involves surface scars on the breast which tend to heal very well. Dr. Gurley firmly believes that if the position and shape of the breast is perfect for you, then the scars are less of an isssue. In fact, some of the worse scars one will see on the internet are due to the fact that inappropriate decisions were made in terms of the extent of skin removal.

Instead of removing an implant completely, the implant could be replaced with a different size and style. Its also an option to re-position existing breast implants or leave the implants in place while lifting the breast tissue back onto the existing implant. Removing an implant without a lift is also an option for many women who have small implants or who simply want less volume and are not as worried about the appeaerance of the breast while unclothed.

A breast augmentation can be used in combination with a breast lift. Dr. Gurley will meet with you personally to decide which procedure or combination of procedures would be best for you.

Expect, in most cases, needing little to no pain medicaitons for this procedure. Since there are NO drains, NO pain pumps and NO tight binding, normal activities and work can be resumed within 24 hours. We have tailored recovery recommendations to make your outcome as predictable and beautiful as possible. This advice is personalized and largely depends upon exactly the surgical techniques used during your operation. Exercise is restricted 4-6 weeks or until Dr. Gurley indicates its safe to do so.
