What does the procedure entail?
Dr. Gurley will remove tissue from around the nipple, possibly lift the breasts, or remove excess breast skin in order to round out the breast and create a more normal-appearing areola.
What can I expect?
After your areola reduction procedure, you’ll return home the same day. Generally we use stitches that dissolve so you will not need to have stitches removed at the office. Avoid strenuous activity for a few days following the surgery. You should be able to return to normal activity the next day, but refrain from physical activity for 4-6 weeks.
Who is a good candidate?
You may want to consider this procedure if:
You are unhappy with the size or shape of your areolas.
You feel the size of you areolas detract from the appearance of your breasts.
You have asymmetrical or discolored areolas.
Real Artistic Outcomes
The size and shape of your breasts are just part of the equation when it comes to feeling beautiful. Areola size, color, and symmetry can add to or detract from the appearance of your breasts. Areolas that are larger than they should be give the breast an immature, pointy appearance. At times, the areola can stay "puffy" and swollen-looking, which detracts from the overall beauty of the breasts. Changing the shape and size of the areola can restore rounder and more normal looking breasts.
