Candidates

Who is a good candidate?

Ear pinning is a surgical procedure where an incision is placed behind the ear and the ear is reshaped and re-positioned closer to the head.

After surgery, the ears are protected for 5-7 days. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for swelling to subside, but normal activity can be resumed one week from surgery. Adults may return to work after several days. More aggressive activites should be avoided for 2-4 weeks.

You may be a candidate for this procedure if:
You have prominent ears, if you want your ears to sit closer to your head, or if you have enlarged or misshapen earlobes.

Real Artistic Outcomes

Dr. Gurley’s artistic eye allows her to envision even subtle changes to improve the size, shape or prominence of the ears. She will work carefully with you to decide how to subtly improve the look of your ears, making sure that the new changes enhance the rest of your features. Ear pinning (otoplasty) can also be ideal for children or young adults who feel self-conscious about the size or prominence of their ears. Ear pinning can allow you to wear your hair short, pull it up or put it behind your ears!
